John Singleton has taken over directing duties for Tulia, claims BlackFilm.com.
The Halle Berry and Billy Bob Thornton starrer pic is based on the Nate Blakeslee book Tulia: Race, Cocaine, and Corruption in a Small Texas Town and is about an ACLU lawyer's efforts to expose a corrupt and racially motivated rash of drug convictions in rural Tulia, Texas, in 1999.
That will be the third search for a helmer for the pic’s producers. Before Singleton, Carl Franklin was attached to direct the film.
